End of Term
Living in SwedenToday was the last day of term on my Swedish course, and for some students the end of the course. Some clever people took the “National Exam” in early, passed and are now moving onto other things. But all the SFI (Swedish For Immigrants) pupils this morning had a small coffee and cake party.
Now remember, I currently live in a world where English is a minority language. If spoken at all, it is usually somebody's second, or even third language. So with Russian, Bosnian, and some Swedish wafting through the air, for me, the party was not a total social success. My English reservedness has nothing on not being able to communicate, for subduing any social skills I might try and demonstrate. But it was nice, end of an era and all that...
