Spring and Song

Living in Sweden

Like anywhere else in the northern hemisphere, Spring is here, and like a lot of cold countries this is a bit of a big deal here. You can now put away the thermal underwear, the woolly hat, the winter jacket and now you need not be afraid of going to the shops and getting your bits really cold.

Since moving to Sweden, I have noticed that the changes in the seasons are more defined here, whereas in Hampshire, you had summer, and then the rest of the year was a mixture of wind and rain in varying quantities.

So now it is Spring, and everyone's mood is picking up. Even mine, and I never considered myself a Winter or Summer person, but I am definitely happier to see longer hours of daylight and above freezing temperatures. Bring on summer.

Well Sweden has chosen it's Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) entrant, and I am going to move heaven and earth to get a feed from the BBC. Every year a mild mannered TV/Radio talking head called Terry Wogan hosts the ESC for the BBC, and his damning and cutting remarks are hilarious, and I cannot wait to hear what he has to say about the Swedish entry. Let me introduce to you.... The Ark...

Erm yes... they are basically a 70's British Glam rock band with an effeminate front man ... Shame about my favourite (came in 6th, don't ever ask me to pick a winner), but there were some good songs in this competition, and as we all know; “There is nothing more fickle than folk”.

The national broadcaster has kindly put their entry up on the net, here it is if you dare.

That is all.
